Okay, today we’re blogging like it’s 2006 because it’s my page and I get to decide what to do with it.
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve been pretty sporadic lately. I didn’t post a writing update for September at all, and October is going to be just as much of a mystery. It’s not that I’m not writing, because I am. I am writing a ton,* but I’m also going through a divorce.
Now, we are not going to use this time to bash my wasband,** but I do want to offer a little tiny bit of an explanation for why things aren’t thinging as they once did.
As part of the divorce, I have moved out. This has had a few downstream effects. First, the parenting split is now truly 50/50, instead of me providing childcare while he’s at work, and us splitting the rest. Theoretically, this means I have more time, and I do!
But, writing does not*** pay the bills, so I’m also looking for a job that will, while I bunk with some lovely friends.****
So while I’m 33k into Secret Project, and 25k into the Book Book, I am also coordinating moving all of my belongings into one space and making sure that a non-verbal autistic toddler feels loved and supported the whole time.
I promised you I’d talk about editing, and I will, but right now my brain is full of steel wool, so you will have to wait. And I love that for both of us.

She had entertained a brief, vivid fantasy of punching him so hard in the solar plexus that all of his ribs exploded out the sides of his torso and he apologized for daring to exist because he would much rather have all of his ribs remain un-exploded, but she didn’t want to do the paperwork that would inevitably follow, so she confined herself to a curt nod, and kept walking.
Do good, friends.
*One of those things is not under an NDA, but it is a joint project, so other than some fun bits for Insta trends, I’m not really talking publicly about it. It’s cool, but it’s not romance, so calibrate your expectations accordingly.
**Though I do regret never introducing him as my first husband while I had the chance. He didn’t think it was as funny as I did.
